I call this the ocean ramen bowl =)
This is another piece I used to test out the glaze combination of rutile pink over zap blue to better understand the parameters that affect the outcome of this glaze combo. I wanted to see if firing first in oxidation and then in reduction (like I did with Mug 54) would create the brighter yet flowing movement effects.
So, this bowl was fired in oxidation and I was planning to fire it a second time in reduction. I decided though not to fire this a second time because part of the glaze had already run all the way to the base, which you can see in the middle photo. Luckily, it didn't touch the kiln shelf and get stuck.
I was surprised to see the brightness and flow in the outcome of the glaze here even though it had only been fired in oxidation. Maybe it was because I laid on the glaze thicker? More experimenting to come I guess...
