This is the largest platter I have made so far! I was practicing to make large and deep serving bowls for a commission and opened up one of the bowls too wide so it turned into this beautifully large and shallow platter.
Because this is so large, I couldn't dip it into the bucket of glaze. Instead, I hand poured glazes and let gravity, inertia, and the curves of the bowl create this scenic outcome. Everyone sees different things in this piece. I see a scene of mountains with a lake. My dad says he sees the milky way =)
Firing: Reduction high fire
Clay: BMIX
Made with glazes at Echo art studio
