Although this bowl has a brown color to it, the brown-looking glaze is actually matte white glaze. The reason why the outcome was more brown was because it was a very thin layer of matte white glaze. The brown color of the black mountain clay was showing through the matte white glaze.
I love the way glazes catch on edges because it often creates a gradient as glazes combine and thin out.
