This bowl was too large to dip into the buckets of glaze so I had to use a pouring glaze technique. Crossing matte white, white and rutile pink is one of my go to glaze combinations. Rutile pink can be significantly different depending on the type of clay, but it always creates a pink and purple hue when layered over the white glazes. The orange and dark blue accents are where rutile pink covers the raw clay without crossing over white glaze.
Crossing glazes has the risk of glaze dripping down to the kiln shelf. The part that sticks to the shelf has to then be sanded down to be smooth and flat enough for the bowl to sit stable on its bottom.
