I made this bowl when I was first practicing how to make shallow bowls. Aesthetically, I think the bowl looks fun with the small foot. Functionally, a small foot for the width of this bowl makes it a little less stable. This bowl also has an unintentional alternative use as a lid because it's so easy to hold the foot like the handle on a lid =)
The gradient of light to dark brown is caused by the brown glaze moving downwards due to gravity during the firing process as the glaze particles melt. This was one of my favorite glaze combos when I was making pottery at Bellevue college.
